Hide-a-Key

Hide-a-Key
Just got a 2020 F150 Lariat. First time owning a fob and a keyless start system.
When I went canoeing or to the beach, I always liked to hide a key outside the truck in case I lost my key. Not sure I can do that with my new truck and fob.
I can use my code to open the door without a key, but would not be able to start and run the truck without a fob. Is that correct?
If I hide a fob inside the truck, then the alarm doesn't function correctly since it senses a fob inside the truck.
In addition to a key in each of the fobs, I also got a separate key (not sure what you call it). I thought that I could hide the separate key on the outside of the truck and use the separate key to open the door and start the truck. That key opens the door (also good when the truck battery is dead), but it won't start the truck, and then the alarm goes off .
So, I can use the key code or use the separate key hidden on the truck to unlock the door, but how do you start and drive the truck without a fob. Any ideas?

What if you took the battery out of the FOB after parking the truck? Left the Fob inside the vehicle someplace safe.and locked the door with the manual key kept with you.You could always keep a manual key someplace in case you lose your key. I don't know for sure if the alarm would go off if you unlocked it with your manual key.
The only problem would be if someone set off the alarm, you would not be able to shut it off right away.

hanky,
Thanks, I'll have to give it a try.
I was hoping to purchase a 3rd fob for this purpose. If the fob does not have a battery in it, I would think that the truck would not recognize that it is inside the truck and I could lock the truck like I normally do, with the alarm system activated.
I'm wondering: Suppose I hide the battery-less fob under the rear seat, then retrieve it when I unlock the vehicle with the key code. If I were to place the battery-less fob in the "secret spot" under the cup holder (used for when the fob battery dies), would the truck start? If not, I could store a spare battery for the fob that I have hidden under the back seat.
To answer your question, I used the manual key to unlock the truck, and the alarm went off shortly thereafter.
Great idea. It's one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" ideas.
