I just got the new scanner... and trying to connect to truck now.. Not looking so good tho...It's asking for a pairing code and there is no pairing code on the scanner.

A Modified ELM327 USB OBD2 Scanner uses a HS and MS CAN Switch. Allowing you to access proprietary communication protocols that a normal or standard ELM327 scanner can't.
Without the switch, you wont be able to access the full range of Ford modules, nor Forscans full capability for your truck..
A standard ELM327 should still make the connection, but not much use if you want full functions within the App..
A USB cabled may be the easier to connect, and I've heard that some of the wifi or Bluetooth can 'time out' while using the Forscan.
This is what a switched scanner/adapter would look like..

I sent you the starting and charging schematics, did you get them?
Or are you talking about the ignition switch group etc? for RS/KE install.
Who’s remote start did you get? Most systems will provide model specific install info, or have a link provided for you to access them.
I have the Ford system remote start instructions if that’s what you bought, or would just want a copy to reference..
On the ELM327,, just make sure it’s for Forscan, that it’s compatable with your laptops OS, and 32 or 64 bit which ever your laptop is. I still have an older 32 bit USB ELM works fine with my old laptop, no good for my new one.. These older scanners are still being sold on eBay.
Most of the new scanners are capable of both 32/64. And the latest chipset if its shown.. The image I provided is just for illustration, scanners vary in appearance, and usually the latest scanners follow higher pricing.. .

I just found out through email that there is no paring code for the bluetooth for that scanner. I got it through ebay so hopefully I will get my money back from them. They said just use wifi which that didn't work neither.. so now I will order that one that you showed me in the pic. Where did you get it from????? Thanks again bud.

If your laptop is 32 bit? your welcome to my USB/cabled ELM 327
If your buying on eBay, most any of the scanners would work if they follow the specs provided above. Just be sure it’s for Forscan, switch modified for HS/MS.
Wifi,, not sure I’d go that way since at times I may have my laptop available for the engine bay (WiFi is limited to about 5 ‘ so may be iffy)
Bluetooth a better option for distance, but with either WiFi of Bluetooth connection needs to be made. Although a cable in the way at times depending on DLC location/s,, the USB is hard wired with no connection issues, signal drop outs etc.
I just purchased a new USB unit, waffled on the Bluetooth offerings, but my last one came from the same vendor on eBay as before and had no issues.
I know that some of the ELMs come with included software/disc and many buyers had issues with compatibility or getting them to work at all . For those folks, there was an on line set of drivers that corrected the problem getting the scanner to communicate.
I sent an image to your email of the USB unit. They sell both the WiFi and Bluetooth as well.
Being I’m upgrading as well, I can’t confirm function just yet, but I don’t anticipate any problems since all the scanner/laptop/Forscan specs and requirements are met...
