Default Oil?

I just recently bought 6 quarts of Amsoil 5W-30 and wondering if it's the right oik to use in my Ford Lightning. I know that the the truck says use 5W-20 but was wanting to try Amsoil. Is this good for my engine and will it bother my performance or anything else?

the amsoil 5W30 is great for your lightning. next time try the 0W30, it's a little more expensive, but well worth it. they also carry a new line of filters that have tested better than any filter that I have seen.

I would recommend using Mobil 1 oil with a wix or purolator oil filter.

listen its your vehicle but there is a reason they want 5w20 ,have seen many escapes exspecially running different oil 10w30 or 5w30 and engine failure and ford will not warranty engine because of it ,i like different oil as well lucas makes good adatives ,but still put 5w20

The mobil 1 product is decent, as are the wix filters. However the amsoil oil is slightly better and the amsoil ea series filters simply blow away anything else currently available. I have tested these products through the use of oil analysis from blackstone labs. The amsoil 0W30 and there ea series filters are the best you will find. There 5W30, as long as it's the regular 5W30, not the XL series 5W30 is also an excellent choice which is still better than anything I have tested, except the 0W30.

the reason they are calling for the 5W20 oil is because that is what is needed for a number of there vehicles to pass current fuel milleage regulations. There semi-synthetic 5W20 is thinner at operating temperature than a conventional or semi-synthetic 5W30. With that said, a good quality fully synthetic oil in the 5W30 or 0W30 will be thinner at operating temps than the recommend semi-synthetic 5W20. That is the only reason for ford calling for the 5W20, other than ford being one of the very few manufactures of a 5W20 motor oil. I use the amsoil 0W30 in every vehicle I own, except fpr my powerstroke diesel, and have have nothing but great results and better fuel milleage. I use blackstone labs for oil analysis quite often and there tests/results do nothing but prove everything that I have stated above.

Mobil 1 for sure. Mobil 1 has a new oil-extended performance. It is a fully synthetic oil that carries a 15,000 mile or 1 year oil change, whichever comes first, GUARANTEED !! Mobil 1 oil filter and your in business !!

The mobil 1 extended performance oils are nothing new. Amsoil has benn selling oils that are rated for 7,500, 25,000 and 35,000 miles for many years. Also the old mobil 1 filters (grey and green filter and box) were excellent filters, however when they changed to the black filter/box, the design of the filter changed as well. The mobil 1 filters are no longer the full synthetic top quality filter that they used to be. With there old style filters, you got what you paid for as far as quality and the filtering capabilities. With there new extended performance filters, you are not getting near the quality or filtering even though your still paying the same price. If you are looking for what is most likley the best oil filter available today, check out the link below.
