oil filters ?

Default oil filters ?

this is just about oil filters ! i got a FRAM oil filter for my 96 ford f-150 ! a few yrs ago they had trouble with them coming apart, did they get that problem fixed ? so far it,s been running good and good oil pressure ! thanks guys !

I think they fixed the majority of their quality control issues. I dont run Fram filters because there are better filters for less money. If it was between using a Fram oil filter or not changing the oil I wouldnt hesitate to use it.

Hey guys, I just joined this forum specifically because of your post about Fram. My son's '07 F150 just had a week-old Fram come apart internally, and deposit it's paper on the oil pump suction screen. The rest of the filter was laying in the bottom of the oilpan. Cam phaser isn't working either, likely has bits of filter plugging an oil gallery. He killed the engine the moment the LOP warning came on, but still not sure how much engine damage there is (if you're interested I'll let you know in a few days). Been doing my own minor services for 35 years, and for me this a first, however the dealer in Lacombe told him it is the 6th Fram failure they have seen. From here on the only direction I will ever turn a Fram is CCW.
