Dear Ford Buffs,
I finally took the plunge & just bought an 1986 F150 4X4. I love it! But I have a draw back.....I can't live with the 7.5 mile to the gallon. I have yet to install the factory tach to see what kind of RPM's I pulling but I suspect I'm pulling 3000 plus @ reeway speeds. My guess is that this truck was built to pull homes off foundations & has a low geared rear end. But even driving like miss daisey is not getting any good gas mileage. I've thought about converting to fuel injection but that is costly, changing front/rear gears, that would be costly, changing from the three speed tranny to one with overdrive,????talk to me guys, I don't want to lose this truck because of mileage
