Default Thought it had to be the VSS

I have a 95 f150 4 wheel drive. All was good until I started it this morning and the odometer didn't work, the speedometer didn't work, the od light is on, the abs light is on, and the transmission isn't shifting right. I figured it had to be the VSS so I replaced it (on the top of the rear end) and its still doing the same thing. Is there another sensor that it could be? I'm completely lost. The fact that it happened all of a sudden seems strange but I'm hoping somebody can help me out.

On the trans should be two or three plugs. Two on the driver's side an one on the passenger side. carefully remove each one and check for any green corrosion. If you find any you can flush both parts of the plug with a good penetrating oil to clean the plug and pins. On the driver's side at the tailshaft housing should be the speed sensor. If you remove that and check it for generating an AC voltage (very low) when spun you should get something. If not , the sensor is defective.
It is important to check all the things listed !!

Thanks. I'll try that and see if it fixes the problem. Could any of these be sending a funky signal that causes an misfire at all?

I don't think so, but with electronics some strange are capable of taking place.
Just for starters,
when was the last time you replaced the spark plugs? Ford vehicles DO work better with Motorcraft plugs.

Changed plugs and wires about 3000 miles ago

There isn't any sensor on the tail shaft
The only one I could find was the one on the rear end

Does your trans have three plugs with wires, two on the driver's side and one on the passenger side ?
