Default tires for a 1996 ford f-150 4x4 ?

i need tires for my ford truck ! it calls for 235-75-r-15 XL according to the sticker on the door ! should i stick with what the factory says ? right now i have skinnier tires on the back but i was desperate for back tires so i got 2 good used tires for $30.00 ! will it handle better if i use truck tires instead of car tires ? thanks guys ! it either says XL or LT on the door, can,t remember !

put the same size all the way around it you don't want to mess up the transfer case I know you can get away with 31X10.50's

i am staying with 235-75-r-15 ! i just wanted to know if it,s better to stay with truck tires and not use car tires ? truck tires are a little bit wider then car tires !

LT stands for light truck. AT stands for all terrain it makes no difference wheather it comes from a car or truck the hight and width are the same 235 is the hight the 75 is the width and the 15 is the rim size.
