01' F-250 Door ajar light
New to this forum. Maybe someone has experienced this same issue and knows how to resolve it.
I noticed my battery went dead on the truck, charged battery, everything seemed fine. 3 days later dead again. Charge battery, start truck and notice the door ajar light is on and the dome lights/door lights are on even with the doors closed. So as a quick "fix" to keep the battery from going dead, I pulled the fuse to the dome lights. That worked, but the door agar light stays on anytime the key is on. I figure that is normal. So a few weeks later I decided to look into this issue further. I started puling door panels starting with the drivers door, the one that gets the most use, and started unplugging the door latch switch's. I got to the passenger front door and pulled the door latch switch wire connector and the dome lights went off and the door ajar light went off. So I figured it just needs a new door latch assembly. Fine, i will replace that another day. Anyway, 3 weeks go by, no issues and then suddenly the dome lights come back on and the door ajar light comes back on. So I figure another door latch switch is bad. So, I pull the remaining 3 door latch switch wire connectors but the doom light are still on and the door ajar light is still on. So pulled the fuse again. Now what? I can hear a relay click when I take the fuse in and out, but it appears that this relay is on the backside of the fuse box? Any other ideas? I don't have a wire diagram, so not sure where to go next.
BTW, at about the same time as all this first happened, the fuel gauge quit working. I just assume that it was the sender in the tank, but maybe related to the door ajar light being on in the dash???
Thanks
