Default 02 f-250 drive wheels

Hi, I am new to this forum but i have a question regarding my f250 super duty. I did not get the 4 wheel drive because i thought it was be unnecessary for my application (its a work truck) and last winter i had a hell of a time trying to get around in the snow..i found out the hard way that my truck has an Open rear differential! I used to have an 86 f250 that had posi and that got around fine in the snow. I looked through the owners manual and found that there were no f250s equipped with a limited slip differential. I did however notice that some of the 350s and 150s had options to have an open diff, a limited slip diff, or 4 wheel drive. My question is, do any of the limited slip diffs from other models(f150 or f350) bolt up to my f250 or is there fabrication involved? Thanks in advance!

your best chance is to just buy a limited slip case, or if you wanted a full lockerit is much cheaper, less labor, and it would probably perform better than an OEM one, if it is an 8.8 rear end they sell tons of aftermarket things for it.

a full locker is a diff that locks up both wheels so that you have 2 wheels spinning at the same time, and it unlocks when going around corners to allow both wheels to turn at different speeds, a full spool has them locked all the time, and is cheaper, however it doesn't unlock around corners so your tires chirp which is hard on axel shafts, and tires. a locker can run you anywhere from 400 to 1000 dollars , and a full spool you can pick up for as little as 150 dollars, but i dont recomend one for a dayley driver
