03 6.0 F-250 Is Cutting Out
My truck doesnt like to run right after I start it. I know diesels need to warm up, etc but this one is ridiculous. When its below 60 I really have to let it warm up before I can go forward in it. I can rev it and it doesnt die and I can put it in reverse with no problems. However, when I put it in drive and go forward, if it hasnt warmed up enough for my engine temp to register on the gauge, it will either die or chug and try to cut out. I could baby it and ease it into an acceleration but it is slow going. However, once I hit 2,000 RPM though I am good and the truck is fine. It can even sit for half a day when its cold and will drive right away even though the engine temp shows cold. When I wouldnt take a lunch and let it sit for 9 or more hours the issue came back and the process had to be repeated.
I have been around a few diesels and have never never seen this. It chugged a little on me today and the temp was almost 70 but it didnt take much babying to get to 2,000 RPMs. My brother had a gas engine once that did this and it was the CO2 sensor I think or air flow. I cannot remember.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?
