06 f250 Thrust washer?
Hey guys,
I have an 06 f250 4wd with auto lock hubs. Front axle assembly needed replaced(Driver Side). Had a friend of mine that was going to do the job, he did the disassemble, but personal issues came up, so I need to do the install. My main question is does the 06 have a thrust washer? Ive found tons of videos online but they all seem to be for the superdutys only up to 04. Also, is there only one snap ring holding the hub on and no washers? Ive seen videos of the 04 with a snap ring, and washers. If anyone has any videos or info on the 06 hub/front axle that would help out a lot. I cant seem to find the info I need.
thanks

You do have another option,
That is to open up the other side and see exactly what is there . This can get a little more involved than you and your friend might have planned ,,,,,,because you should not reuse the old seals and you might need to get a special tool to install the new seals.
Were you able to ask the gent that took it apart exactly what was there?
Keep in mind anything that is not assembled correctly and with the correct new parts can come back and haunt you someplace on the road when you least need a problem that would involve a possible towing bill and addl expense.
As you know there is only one way , the right way to get this done. ANY OTHER way will be a gamble.

Yes,, there is a thrust washer on the axle shafts face. Not sure what your referring to as far as snap ring, although there is a snap ring on the axle shaft that holds the stub axles thrust up against the hub face. The hub lock has attaching screws. Like hanky mentioned, anytime the axle is disassembled, the inner/outer hub seals along with o-rings should be replaced. If not, you may have a vacuum bleed and axle lock issues

Yes, I thought of that, I just didnt want to do all that if it wasnt necessary. I may have to though. Also, I did install the new seal which came with the axle assembly, as well as replaced the hub o-ring/seal.
Im not able to get ahold of him.
You are right, I definitely want to make sure I do it correctly so I don't cause more issues. I may just have to pull the other side.
thanks for the good feedback!

Hey guys,
Just came across the video I've been looking for. This is the axle setup I have. Unless I'm missing something in the video, it looks like there is NO thrust washer set?
Also here is the 98-04 setup for reference.
at 4:30 in the video you can clearly see the snap ring and thrust washer set being removed.
So according to the first video, I have installed everything correctly. Any thoughts?

Thanks @Hayapower thats the schematics I was looking for. Still confused why its not shown in the video. I'm still going to take off the other side though and double check. Have to find some extended snap ring pliers though. Thanks again for the good feedback and help everyone!

No, On the 2005 and newer Danna 60 it has a different Unit Hub Bearing Face and does not use the Thrust Washer.. The Dana 60 2004 and Back do need this Thrust Washer. Be sure to use it and install it correctly on your 2004 and older Dana 60.
