Default '07 5.4L Triton vs 6.4L PSD

Hello All,
I am going to be purchasing a newtruck in the next couple of months. As my father did in 1977, I will making my first purchase on a completely new vehicle with a ford truck. This will be my first truck ever, I was given 3 different Hondas in the past 12 years. They had great gas mileage but I "NEED" a truck. I am tired of feeling cramped in my car, 6'3" 270lbs. Here is my dilemma, I am not a commercial worker, so the strains on the truck will not be that great. I intend to haul motorcycles and some random items on occasion. With the growing oil prices, which would be more suited for my application while commuting to work 60 miles away. I like the F-150 but, the new F-250 has just caught my eye and I wouldn't buy anything else. I have read on a few posts on here that the mpg will not droop as bad in a diesel vs gas while towingor hauling. Has anyone had a large difference they have seen in their truck? Which motor would you suggest that I lay down that large wad of cash for? Thanks.
