If I can take everything at face value, if the problem started right after washing and the failure is not coincidental, then letting whatever part that got wet dry off may be the only cure at this point. If you have a Garage attached to your home then mabye getting a hair dryer out and systematically drying off parts may help.
I think one of our members here actually hook up his hair dryer and closed the hood and left it running for a bit, that sounds a bit risky but between the heat and the air movement it could work.
