My four wheel drive does not work. It has an electric switch to turn the 4wd on. I will manually lock the hubs, push in the brake and shift to neutral and then turn the switch to 4 low. I can hear somthing switching or locking in the front but it only goes into low range, the front wheels are not pulling. I dont think i am suppose to have to manually lock the hubs, I think they are suppose to lock through some vacum system but i dont think it works, so thats why I lock them.

 

My mechanic says the automatic Hi-Low is vacuum operated and replaced the front hub seals when I had new ball joints installed. Said it cost him $200 for a tool to press in the new seals.
