2004 F-350 - Question on Miles
Ok, so I am looking into buying a 2004 F350 XL 4x4 Super Duty that is a 6.0L turbo diesel. It has 130,000 miles which seems like a lot to me. Should I be worried that it has that many miles? It is hard to find a nice truck around that year with under 150,000 miles!
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

RE: 2004 F-350 - Question on Miles
From talking to a Ford Diesel mechanic... The problems that most have experienced with the 6.0 was head bolts/head gaskets. From what he has seen, if the truck has over 100,000 miles without problems, it should be OK. Fordcorrected the problem in production but I'm not sure when, and the engines had lots of power and decent fuel mileage. According to the mechanic, with proper care, it should go 300,000 miles pretty much trouble free. Hope this helps.

HA -LOL , sorry to burst your bubble but the 2004 6.0l is a huge pile of junk iron and have yet to see an engine make it over 180 miles with out haveing to replace the engine or a hell of alot of exspensive repairs (egr valve and cooler-head gaskets-turbo charger and the list goes on -the only decent 6.0l was revamped in 2006 and got most of the bugs worked out -the 03-04 models were the worst ones, then ford changed to the 6.4l in 07 (which is an even bigger pile of junk iron)-i have replaced so many engines on the 07-08 models ( most under 5k miles) it isnt even funny anymore, mark.

A little of topic ...but while I was looking for a truck I found a great deal on a 2007 F-250...its in the Pacific Northwest I don't know if that fits your geographic location or not but it is still available....( I found one closer to home so I passed it up )
