Default 2006 F350 parking brake cable and spring

Hello all,

I'm rebuilding the rear brakes on my 2006 F350 King Lariat with dual rear wheels. I've had to tear it all the way down to replace the brake backing plate (dust shields). Incidentally, I did find a pair of dust shields ($66) through a local parts vendor who gets them from DormanProducts.com, pn 924-212.

Can someone offer the method for removing the parking brake cable spring and actuating lever where the parking brake bracket and dust shield meet? For the life of me I can't figure out how to get any leverage on this nor do I see how the hook on the actuating lever can disengage from the loop on the cable.

Thank you.

Solved. Found the procedure in a Haynes manual. About $24
