I am getting only 13.5 mpg on mostly highway travel with a 3.73 rearend not towing anything. My Dodge gets 20 to 22 mpg and my old Ford 7.3 non-turbo used to get 18 mpg (may it rest in peace). This engine appears to be a GIANT stepbackwards. Also, what is up with the regeneration cycle? Mine does it at least once a week and at the wrong time in most instances (big loss of power and a lot of white smoke). The ignition set already went out with 5500 miles on the truck meaning it had to be dragged onto a flat bed to be towed to the dealer. Wehave another 08 at work that is getting only around 11 mpg although it has a heavy service body on it.The cruise control is also weird. You must be within 10 miles per hourof the set point to hit resume and when you hit resume, the truck accelerates so hard you are pushed back inyour seat. Dealer says this is normal. I would hate to do it on a slick road as an accident is guaranteed.Ford did not have a "better idea" with this one. I hope mine is not the norm but I am afraid it is.

So far so good, but mpg is poor. Towing power is outstanding. Dealership doesn't have much to say about this vehicle. They want me to drive it 2000 miles and log the mpg. I guess they dont believe me. Towing I'm getting about 8 mpg. That I would think is good? Around town 10-13 mpg. I have to get it on a highway without the trailer so I can see what happens there. I also have 3.73 rearend.

Update September 7

Truck now has 7800 miles - best mileage to date is 14.9 (current). This was obtained by never exceeding 2000 rpm's (you can imagine how slow I am from a stop). I also had the ignition fail at 5000 miles. Seat belt retractors are still acting up.

Hello everyone I also have one of the famous2008F-250s that loves every fuel station on the interstate! I was told it would get better and it did it reached 14.4 and I would pull my 18ft enclosed work trailer and only loose about 3 to 4tenths per mile and now I have 23000 and its gotten worse 8.7 pulling and 9.9 10 at best, the Dealership recommended using C-tane Booster and it would improve my milage by 3mpg haven't seen that yet I have owned GM trucks all my life and I bought my first Ford last year and bought this truck in May not Happy [:@]at all, I have a contracting business and I am going for the Lemon Law on this vehicle, I can't beleive Ford would design something that gets worse Fuel Milage than the previous model? I would like to get a list going of everyone having problems.

Hey guys just wondering if things are any better now?
Ive had a 95,99,02,04 and now this fuel sucking 6.4.
I like everythingabout the truck interior, stereo, power
comfort and looks. But at the point i am at 9 mpg just
aint gonna cut it.Ive used their so called C-tane booster
and i got 10 mpg.Seems to me Ford might have a big problem
on their hands,I am ready to go buy a Dodge. Problem with that is I will never be able face my buddies again.I have 20000 miles on it.Is it going to get better? Please tell me it is.

Thanks for any info sam.

I was going to trade in my old '96 7.3L power stroke this spring, but I'll think I'll hold on to it if the milage is as poor as you guys are telling me. Heck I'm getting 17MPG pulling my boat and 20 empty.
I would like the third door, but why go backwards in fuel milage.

Good luck to all. I had a 2005 F350 that couldn't pass a shop and now the 2008 F350 can't pass a gass station. The best I've gotten is 11 MPG without a trailer and as little as 6 with a trailer.
