Default 4wheel front end questiuon

I have a 2003 F250 Super duty Lariat. 5.4 with about 90K on it. I know the 4 wheel is disengaged as I grab the Drive shaft and it spins free. But when I go around corners sharply, say from a stop sign and turning 90 degrees, feels like it's in 4 wheel. Wondering if anyone has an idea as to the issue. The print on the hub locks is gone and I'm not sure which way is unlocked. Tried both ways and doe sent seem to make a difference. Although I would love to know which way is locked and unlocked. Appreciate any ideas.

Pretty sure all the way clockwise takes it to locked position and all the way counterclockwise places it in unlocked position.
