'87-'91 F-250
I'm considering buying a 1987-1991 Diesel F-250.
Just some general questions...
1.) What's the gas mileage like?
2.) Turbo or non-turbo?
3.) Operation costs?
4.) What things should one look out for in terms of issues, maintenance?
5.) Is the F-250 a good biodiesel candidate? (Does it run well? etc.)*
* If I do go ahead with the F-250 (instead of the Mercedes) I wouldn't mind converting it over to biodiesel (WVO) since it's free (unless you buy it pre-filtered which is cheaper than diesel at the pump). The fact that the F-250 has dual tanks makes conversion easy I heard.
I should probably state why I'm considering the F-250.
Next year I might take up a job as a park ranger for the East Bay Regional Parks District. The F-250 would make a great work truck. Converting to biodiesel would make sense because it would save me some considerable money because you can get it for free or pre-filtered for around $1.15 per gallon which is far cheaper because diesel here in CA is the most expensive ($3.89 last time i checked). Biodiesel is great for long distance driving and makes sense for me because I would have to make about about a 1 hour commute. (1 hr over, 1hr back).
