Default 87 F250 7.5l power loss

I am not a mechanic to start with but do a lot of my own work on my vehicles.

Starts and Idles fine, but loss of power once in gear/load (even second gear). newer 1406 Edelbroch 600cfm carb. new wires, spark plugs, coil, distributor cap. New see thru fuel filter just before carb and showing plenty of gas. I did not replace the Ford fuel shut off valve that sends fuel back thru a return line and I do not see a color dot to know the right size.

This has been my workhorse for many years then the old holly started leaking fuel out all over it. I had a mobile mechanic look at it and he suggested removal and replacement of carb to the edelbroch and removal of all emission equipment. Truck ran fine for a year after then the trouble started. Has set for several months. Once I found out that the Fuel Shut Off Valve was not a fuel filter, I realised the mechanic never put on a fuel filter. Today I disassembled the carb and cleaned out the carb thoroughly and put it back together. She started right up and idles great, but same power loss issue once in gear.

Any help out there? or should I break down and get her to a good garage?

Can you be a little more specific ?
Like, does it hesitate and just have no get up and go?
Will it pull good at hi RPM, but goes soft once it goes into a higher gear ?
Attempting to diagnose over the net is really not the same as being there to see all these little things , so we have to depend on everything you tell us.

Sorry did not mention that it is a manual transmission. The loss is right off the bat. the more I press the peddle does not matter. my driveway has a small incline but not steep. I backed down the hill and tried to go back up in 2nd but it died from bogging. I tried in 1st and it felt like it was going to again, so I placed truck in 4 wheel low and it crawled up. I then decided to advance the timing just a smidge. tried incline again and made it in 1st gear but not 2nd. I do not want to advance further as truck does not want to turn over well to start any further. I have not had it on highway lately, but last Fall it was bogging on highway bringing back a load of firewood on truck and trailer down to 3rd gear and 45 mph. It use to pull the same hills with similar load in 4th at 60 to 65 and 5th at 50 to 55mph.

Does your vehicle have a manual choke? If it does , pull the choke out some when pulling and see if it improves any. That is one way to see if it is starving for fuel..
What result do you get?
