'91 Ford F-250 Electrical Problems
I have a 1991 Ford F-250 that's had quite a lot of problems recently. At first, both my gas pumps stopped working, but I replaced the one on the front tank and i've been using that. But several days after that, I noticed the engine shaking quite heavily, andit stopped starting. I found out that the distributor was shaking quite badly and it was causing the engine to misfire pretty badly. I replaced the distributor and spark plug cables, and changed out a few spark plugs that weren't in very good condition. Then, I tried starting my truck, and it still wouldn't start. I started cheking my cables and spark plugs and trying to start the engie in between. After a while, the engine stopped turning over, and It just clicked, like when the battery is dead. I got my other truck and tried to jump it, but it still wouldn't even turn over. In fact, I couldn't get even a spark out of the batteries when i connected the jumper cables. I can't figure out whats wrong, any advice?

When you say that your distributor was shaking, exactly what do you mean. Was the cap loose or was the entire distributor assembly loose and shaking. If that were the case then, I would say that your distributor is a little out of time. Try to rotate your distributor to see if it will move. If it does then you probably have a timing issue. You can try to rotate it while someone cranks the engine over to see if it will start. But it sounds like you also have a problem with the battery or cable, either at the battery or at the starter. You may have to clean the connecters at the battery terminals and maybe at the starter. Give these a try and see if it helps. Let us know what you find.
