Question 95 E250 HELP!! Cant Turn Engine Off

I turned the key to shut the van off.. but it wouldnt shut off. I drove home, pulled the coil wire off.. and that shut it down. I changed the cylinder and keys.. but still have the same problem. It started..but when I go to shut it off.. the key just turns back..and the engine keeps running.

Instead of pulling the coil wire, I disconnected the ignition switch.. and that killed the engine. Should I change the ignition switch?

ANY advice from anyone will be appreciated! THANKS

there is a rod that run down the steering column from the key switch, you should be able to feel it at the ign switch i think. if you can grab it and move it by hand then it broke and will push the switch but not pull it off. does the ign lights stay on when you turn the key off?

Yes. when I turn the key to the off position, nothing happens at all, but the ignition lights do stay on. When I turn it to the off position, the key and cylinder feels really loose , and the steering wheel does not lock. I still drive the van on a daily basis because its my work vehicle.. but to shut it off, I reach under the dash and disconnect the ignition switch. To start it back up, I just reconnect it and turn the key
