I had a Ford dealership put it on a scope and they couldn't tell me anything either. Says it shows a mas air sensor butI have allready checked that. If you lightly put your foot into the gas it will sputter but then accelerate smoothly. If you step into the pedal from a stop it will miss/ bog but will accelerate slowly until you hit 2500-3000 rpm or so and then smooth out and accelerate normally. Once you are running on the road it runs fine, can kick in passing gear normally. When you brake torque it , it misses poorly and only reaches 1000-1200 rpm then cuts out and sometimes dies. If you gun it in park it cuts out but accelerates slowly up to about 2000-3000 rpm the smooths out and continues to accelerate normally. I have noticed that sometimes you can hear a loud whirring/soft howl from the air body, throttle body. Also, when I changed the plugs they were all white indicating that it is running lean. I am ready to pull out what's left of my hair. Anybody got any thoughts? Thanks

I have had 2 Dodges that did the same thing no check eng light but miss back fire white plugs it turned out to be both o2 sensors voltage problem not enough to trip check eng light. replaced them and it fixed it both times hope this helps Terry

I have a 2000 F250 with a 5.4 that did exactly the same thing.This sounds crazy but i replaced the battery cables and it has run for over a year now perfect.

Can you get someone with a scan tool to check out the following;
voltage available in the system (cables?)
o2 sensor activity and mixture control.
I wouldn't keep throwing parts at it until you find out what is really going on. ,,,,,,,,,,,,, hanky

Default 99 ford e 150 van missing sputtering no power

i have a 99 ford e 150 with a 5.4 triton.. with the same symptoms but a little worse than yours... replaced the plugs and coils... before that i took it to a shop. they told me the compression was all off on all cylenders , only 2 were at 130 ,,, 1 had zero, the rest were really low,i had a hard time believing this as there is no blow by into the crank case and no valve hiss from the intake or exhaust, and no overheatimg... no engine light either...really weird dunno what to do next

Default Finally!!!!!!!

I finally found someone that was able to figure this one out!!! I had a tcc code. Everyone including Ford mechanics told me there was no chance that would be it. Guess what, thats exactly what it was. The solenoid pack in the trani was shot. There is a sensor that calibrates load and sends the info to the computer to regulate fuel mixture. My new best freind mechanic told me that he was sceptical as well, got some kind of pressure sensor code, did some homework and low and behold there it was. Tested solenoid and it was bad. Thing runs like a scalded dog and shifts better than it ever has, smooth as glass. Thanks for all your input and I hope this helps someone else down the road.
