Boost pressure

Boost pressure
1999 F-350; 7.3 V8, 6 speed
Just finished installed the EGT and boost gauges. EGT seems to be working fine. Probe is on the driver side manifold on top.
Boost pressure is reading 5-8 pounds but only about 2200 RPM.
Is this correct?
I tapped into the MAP line as Hanky suggested.
I was expecting to see a couple of pounds at 40 MPH in 4th gear.
Comments/ thoughts?
Thank you!
Eric

You should have a wastegate for your turbo is there one?
There is a wastegate solenoid that is normally closed to allow boost to rise.
If that solenoid is sticking open it will dump boost pressure through the green dump hose that goes to the turbo air inlet.
Between 2500-3000 rpm full throttle in appropriate gear to obtain should get approx 16psi.
