Default brake lights

I have a problem here. I have an 1987 f-250 that has brake light problems going on. I have tail lights but not a single glow of the brake lights. Can someone give me a few ideas where to start to fix this problem. thanks a million~!

I have a "99 expedition with the exact same problem. Fuses are good. Firestone checked out fuses etc and said that I should take it to a dealer or "electrical specialist". I checked out recall info and found nothing. Have you gotten any reponses?

I've had the connector behind the bumper go bad. Especially if you have an aftermarket trailer plug thingy teed into it. The plugs on those t's tend to foul easily and you may have some bad pins. If the 87's even have one
