do i have a bad turbo

RE: do i have a bad turbo
First thing I would check would be the oil. Since this system fires under pressure, I would make sure the oil is clean and full. Second, the black smoke could be an indication of an IPR failure, turbo, or a few other items. Guessing its a turbo is a costly mistake. Anywhere from $850. to $1100. depending on whether you have a cold weather package. Inspect the turbo to see if there is any indication of blade damage or looseness in it, before just putting one on.

I had it checked out at my local dealer "I can't go without my work truck" and they told me the turbo needs to be replaced. Not what I wanted to here, but atleast I know what I need to do.They quoted me 1250.00 for a new turbo that seems high to me?
