Electric Cooling Fans

Electric Cooling Fans
Anybody ever installed an electric fan on they're 6.0Diesel? I've heard you can free up about 30 horse and about 12% increase in fuel milage. Just can't seem to find anybody up here who has a kit or any knowlege of one. I found one place who has one for the Cummins but not the Ford or GM.

RE: Electric Cooling Fans
Many newer vehicles already have an electric fan. The only way to free up anything would be to install a fan that draws less energy while operating correctly with the cooling system. If your fan draws less electricity your alternator loads less and your engine needs less energy to power it. But the whole savings is usually only seen over a broad span of time. If you don't already have an electric fan - you will see an increase as stated - but in conjunction you'll also see an increase in repair costs. A fan bolted to the motor never goes bad. An electric fan and all it's components does (over time). You must judge what you want in the long run I guess. Electric fans that cover the whole area of your radiator are better at cooling. They would be great if they came on and shut off with the engine, but many are temperature controlled through a thermostat on the engine (which can cause problems).

Thanks Goinstrong
The Flex-a-lite site was very helpfull. I put an electric on my 23T with a 351W and have had really good luck, touch wood. I didn't know if the application wood suit diesel or not but found it to be a viable alternative after checking they're site.
