F250 A/C trouble. Common?
I have a 2001 F250 7.3L, and my friend has a '99 of the same. We both experience similiar A/C problems. My A/C will blow cold and properly cool the truck. But sometimes it starts blowing uncooled air. Then it will blow cold again. It may blow cold for 20 minutes or more before it changes. Then it may be another 20 minutes before it starts cooling again. My friends '99 is very similiar the way it cools. Any ideas on the problem?
Thanks in advance!

RE: F250 A/C trouble. Common?
While your here, when are the front factory fog lights suppose to come on? Is it with the dim lights, or is there another switch? Mine have not worked since I had the truck, and troubleshooting them may be easier if I know when they are suppose to be on.
Thanks

First, measure the 'air gap' on the A/C clutch.. S/B between .014-.030.. Fairly common for them to beworn out beyondmax spec.. If excessive, theelectro magnet has a hard time pulling the clutch plate against the pulley for a lockup, and can be an intermittent apply at times.. During a 'warm event' (as a test) bump the apply plate towards the compressor, if it cycles/runs normal, check the gap.. The A/C clutch center hub bolt (5/16) can be removed and the apply plate slid off,if original, there should be a thin ajusting spacer between the compressor shaft or stuck in the internal spline bore in the apply plate portion of the clutch.. Remove thespacer and recheck the gap if it was out found off spec..Grooving in the apply components isn't as critical as the gap spacing.. Also, check the cylcing, high pressure, A/C clutchconnectors for any signs of burning..
The fogs should come on with the H/L switch in low beam with the selector pulled out..
