F350 Clutch & Pedal Problems
Hi, I have 99.5 F350 CC Dually 4wd 6spd 7.3 diesel. The clutch pedal is traveling about 3 inches higher up when you take your foot off. You hear a popping sound as it comes up. Plus the clutch itself doesn't seem to be working as it had been. Before you didn't need to apply complete depression to shift, now you'd better have it bottomed out to shift or stop. Any ideas of whats broke to let the pedal travel up so high and do I need to bleed the hydrualic line to get the clutch working normal or is it something else? Thanks, Luke

RE: F350 Clutch & Pedal Problems
Not sure if this is in referance to your problem but i just clutched a 2000 F350 with 6 speed and according to the papers that came with the clutch there is a problem with the clutch fork assembly breaking and cracking and bending and also the pivot point of fork(opposite end af where the slave cylinder is) Hope this may help if it is the fork trans needs to come out.
Lets us know what you find out.

Also , under the dash , Check the linkage there I have had 2 that lil arm on the pedal lever, it is a spline fit an I have seen them strip out allowing the pedal to slip in the shaft an then get cocked at a angle.real easy to spot , you will see fresh shiny metal at the top of the clutch arm , an usualy theirs metal shavings all around the shaft .

RE: F350 Clutch & Pedal Problems
Now that its stopped raining I took a better look under the dash. The pushrod that goes to the master cylinder(?) has came loose. Ramrod48 is this the pushrod you are referring too? I guess the snap ring clip has came loose. There is an electronic part ( the kill switch I guess) that is on the pushrod. Even when I put the pushrod back in place the pedal is still to high. Does the electronic part ride up against the firewall/master cylinder? Do I need to replace just the pushrod or the pushrod and electronic part or pushrod and electronic part and master cylinder. Sorry if this post lists twice, it didn't go through the first time. Better go doctor that cow before it starts raining again, been begging for rain now I whinning about it. Thanks for any help, Luke

RE: F350 Clutch & Pedal Problems
Ok. I think what you have going on , is the pushrod for the clutch master has popped off, there should be a small bushing ( plastic )that has ears on it to hold the rod to the pedal , ,, the elec. switch is your safety start switch , it should pop over the top of the push rod, , the rod should taper down ( be smaller in dia. ), thats where the switch sits .it just snaps on over top of the rod , you gotta push it down a bit to lock on . --- Did you check as see if the rod that you found is still hooked in the back of the clutch master ??. The bushing you can get at any parts store there only a few bucks , that lil piece of plastic makes a big diff. in the clutch pedal travel an ease of starting the truck .. You will have to see if the nub is worn that the bushing rides on it should be complete round ,, also the eye of the pushrod should be round .. I have seen the nub worn down to a taper a pointed.... An I have seen the eye of the push rod very egg shaped from riding a long time with no bushing .... You should be able to get the pushrod if you need it from FORD , or a junkyard if need be .As far as the pedal still being very high ( make sure its ( the rod ) locked in the back of the clutch master cyl )give that a try first, you might have other issues let us know ? , Oh one more thing check the firewall where the master cyl bolts up to it ,, get some one to press the pedal an see if the master moves alot in an out ,, I have had a few where the firewall has cracked out.,, by the way hows the cow ? good luck on both

RE: F350 Clutch & Pedal Problems
I'm back, my modem died on me. I still haven't solved the problem with my clutch pedal. It did stop traveling up to high so I haven't stopped to do anymore to it. Now it makes a popping noise when the pedal is let up. And I still have to push the pedal farther to engage the clutch, especially when pulling trailers (heavy). I know I need to go ahead and resovle the issue before it bites me at a bad time. I also have another question that I'm going to post about front brake calipers. Thanks for the help, Luke

Cluch To high
I have a 2002 4 x 4 F 350 diesel and the clutch pedal rod goes into the master cylinder and when you put it in for the first time it snaps in and stays there. If it comes out you will have to replace your master cylinder to fix the problem.
