F350 Front wheel shake
Hi.. My name is Danny i own a 2001 Ford f 350 turbo deisel 2 wheel drive that i drive here and there mainly use it for towing my race cars (sport compacts) Im a pretty knowledgeable person when it comes to automotive repair i could do alot of services and maitanace on my own car but its hard for me to trouble shoot and figure out the problem.. Recently i've been experience a pulsing sensation coming from my front wheels when im drive. First i though it was that my tires were out of balance or had a bubble in it so i had my tires pulled off and and check and rebalanced everything check out fine. However the problem still accurred i notice that when i hit a hard bump my wheels shakes really bad and it shakes here and there at around 40mph then goes away .. I was wondering if anyone else had experience this same problem recently and had the problem repair.. Im suspecting it is my front shocks going bad but i would hate to replace them and still have the problem so im here to get a second opinion and see if could help me figure it all out before pulling everything apart... Thanks

RE: F350 Front wheel shake
Here is my opinion on what you are describing. First of all, my factory shocks were garbage after only 8,000 miles. At that time two of them were leaking. I have many friends with F-250's-350's and they pretty much all experianced the same thing. Second, these trucks are known for warpping the front brake rotors very quickly. I cannot guarentee that either of these is your problem, if your pulsing gets more noticible in the steering wheel if you lightly put your foot on the brake pedal, it's your front rotors. If that is the case, I would recommend looking into the slotted rotors from www.frozenrotors.com I have not heard of anyone warping a set of there rotors yet. I would also recommend the pads that they offer, just for the better braking performance. If you can narrow it down to the shocks being the problem, the only choice you need to make is the Rancho's or the Bilstein's. Both are great shocks, the Rancho's are adjustable and are a slight pain when you pull a load and need to go to each shock to turn the dial. The Bilsteins are not adjustable but have a very slightly more stiff feeling while driving the truck unloaded. Your problem may not be realated to either of these, but this is what these truck are know for and hopefully will help. If it turns out being that the fron rotors are warped, don't bothor getting them turned because it will happen again in just a couple thousand miles...if that!
