My brother owns an 08 Harley Davidson special edition F350 with 147k on it. It’s supposed to book at approx 30k. He experienced hard starting without warning, engine runs rough now and upon inspection it has metal in the high pressure fuel lines causing injector problems. The general consensus seems to be failure of the HPFP and the repair includes replacement of the HPFP, high pressure fuel lines, entire fuel system cleaning ect at a total bill around $8800 to repair. I’m writing here to inquire: if it’s worth that kind of money repaired is there a forum where we could put it out there for sale for a reasonable price, substantially discounted of course considering the damage but he can’t afford to repair. Anyone out there have any advice? We’re between a rock and a hard place.

I appreciate the response. I’ll investigate how to place an ad here and see if anyone is looking for this particular truck. It is in outstanding condition, set up for 5th wheel, tonneau cover, new tires, brakes and has been meticulously maintained. The engine has good compression and low blow by, they think the damage is limited to the injectors and fuel system.

 

For that kind of money, you might consider a Cummins conversion.
