Default First Oil Change

I had my first oil change today on my 2019 Diesel 250 at 7,500 miles when the computer said too and I was charged $117.00

Curious if anyone works at Ford and can tell me if the oil was actually synthetic. Listed as xo 10w30 BSD :Motorcraft SAE 10W-30 WSS. Then I get a sticker to change in 5,000miles on my windshield but manual says every 10,000 or computer.

For the def it says installed PM27B :Exhaust fluid qts 16@1.95. The tank was almost 3/4 full but charged $31.20 for that.

I know it’s region specific and I’m in Oregon but that seems sketchy.

The 6.7 takes 13.5 quarts of oil, at my dealer we use 15W40 diesel synthetic blend.
Honestly I think the price is about right, diesel oil changes pay more labor then gas engines and have a larger/more expensive oil filter.

DEF is sold in 2 gallon bottles at my dealer, I do not know the price though, we techs dont get paid anything for filling up the DEF tank, theres no option for less then 2 gallons.
I would not bother paying a dealer to refill my DEF tank, just buy it over the counter and pour it in yourself.

Nice, I live in Oregon too. I'm not a Ford tech, but this does seem like a reasonable price at least for an oil change by a dealer. This is part of the reason why I do maintenance on my truck myself instead of taking it somewhere. I can do it a lot cheaper while still knowing that I got the right filters and fluids. I understand if you don't want to or can't do stuff like that yourself, but I recommend doing it yourself anyways. Plus, they can't legally void your warranty if you keep receipts for the filters and fluids.

One of the reasons for the extended/higher mileage service intervals is environmental. Meaning not only supply, but disposal, repurposing of waste oils.
I would never take a calculated service interval out that far for a few reasons. One being, oil is always cheaper than engines. You can hurt it with low mileage services, but the flip side can. Two, like full synthetic oils at high intervals changes, quite often owners get comfortable with knowing they’re covered for 10/15k,, or think so.. Problem with that is ‘generally’ the hood never gets opened during that time period. Usually not a problem with newer rigs,, but with higher mileage units normal issues like coolant levels, trans/engine oil levels, belts, leaks etc get over looked.
I service mine every 4-5k. Generally 5k. Some may say overkill, but again, diesels are a big investment, peace of mind is important to me. Always use quality filters and oils. There’s quite a few aftermarket options, more so filters, and all are not equals...

Filters are critical, I agree. Not much is gained using cheap filters, best to stick with OEM when possible.
