Default Frustrating problem with Ford F-250 help

Hi, i have a 1997 Ford F-250 Lariat super cab 4x4, with a 5.4 Liter Triton engine, automatic. For a while ive been having a very frustrating and strange problem going on with the truck while I drive it. It seems to sputter when accelerating, and when driving down the highway if I push on the accelerator a little bit it will start to shake HORRIBLY. Finally my check engine light came on and checked the code. Said my number 7 cylinder was misfiring. So I replaced the coil and plug (Which i HATE absolutely HATE ford on how they set their fuel rails right above their coils) After that the problem went away, but only for a little while. It began to happen again but now it says number 1 cylinder if misfiring. I decided to check and see if it was a fuel problem, gonna replace the fuel filter but not sure if it will work. Any suggestions.

Symptoms are:
-Sometimes rough idle (Stuttering or missing)
-Accelerating will cause a lot of missing and stuttering
-Going on Highway while attempting to accelerate truck will shake real bad, but stop after a let off the accelerator.
-For some reason i can do a burn out even when power breaking? [:-]

Thanks

i would check your tail pipe to see if you have a build up of black exhaust. if it's sooty then i would chek the 02 senser. you may be getting to much fuel at one time . this is burnning rich.

I'd go to www.fordtruckfanatics.com They are a great group. I've learned a lot from them already. They even have a section where certified techs answer the ?'s

Good luck[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
