Fuel separator tool
Just had the dash indicator come on for water in the fuel. What tool and size is needed to open the drain in the fuel separator on a 2004 F-350 Turbo Diesel? Please note I am researching this for a friend.
Thanks!

RE: Fuel separator tool
My manual for my 2005 says there is a lever on the side of the separator but I crawled under there and it looks different then the picture in the owner's manual. Are we supposed to take that aluminum plug out that has the hex keyway in it? Why does my manual reference a lever to open the drain?

RE: Fuel separator tool
The round plug with the 6mm femal hex is the HFCM drain.. You can add the drain plug from a LCF truck that has not only a hex, but is knurled so to able to be drained without special tools or hand tightened.. It also has a 'T' anchor to help wick and stream the draining fuel away from the module and off of the frame rail..
