Default Help Please

i have a 1983 ford f250 pick up with a 6.9 diesel (non torbo) that over heats have replaced the thermostat with a 192 degree thermostat but it is still getting way to hot was wondering if it could possibly be the fan clutch or the water pump dont think it was the water pump because when replaced thermostat there was collant in the engine, and if possibly water pump or fan clutch is there any way to test these parts, i have had this truck since i was sixteen was my first vehicle purchased im now 25 so im attached to the truck ran fine but all of a sudden just started gettin hot all help is appreciated thank you

Default RE: Help Please

hi,sounds like a coolant flow problem to me if there is no excessive pressures getting into the coolant system(compression -cavitated cylinder -etc) then i would replace the radiator -those oldschool brass radiators last alot longer than the newer aluminum ones but get clogged up after many years even when maintained properlyget the engine up to temp and feel the upper part of the radiator (be careful should be hot) and then feel the bottom it should also be pretty damn warm if there are cooler spots -replace radiator and flush engine-water pump (if not leaking) should be ok -fan clutch should engage if working properly and if radiator is unplgged a sure sign of a plugged radiator (with a known good fan clutch) is the clutch wont engage no matter how hot the engine running due to the thermocoupler not feeling the heat from the radiator to engage the fan ,mark.
