Welcome to the site..

6” at the bed rail ends, meaning the truck sides and combined height are crowding clearances there, correct? What measured clearance is there now?

As mentioned, don't have 6 inches minimum. Only have about 3. I can get an adjustment to the RV to raise it1 inch. Still need 2 more inches. Problem is with the higher bed rails height of new 2017 Ford.

The 1” adjustment is at the pin box?
If the trailer axles can be flipped, that would gain some clearance. Replacement pin box. Lowering the truck would be difficult.

My 17 sits about 4” higher than my 05 did at the rails. Not sure why all the manufacturers feel the need to make bed access more difficult. Even using the gate step, a good hike up/down to the step plate.
