oil in radiator

Default oil in radiator

I own a 01 F-350 super duty with a 5.4 engine, I have oil in my rad and am wondering where it would be coming from???

sounds like head or intake gasket or trans cooler in radiator

I don't think it's the tranny one in the rad, not losing tranny fluid, think it's motor oil, lose about 1 quart of oil every six months.

I know some of the early 5.4s had problems with a gasket leak at the back of the intake. Could be crossing into the coolant stream there or you could have a cracked block or blown head gasket, although a head gasket usually causes a coolant loss.

Do you have an external oil cooler mounted where the oil filter goes on? If so it might leak there or I believe the lines from that go into the radiator also like the trans cooler.

I don't know much about the 5.4, but I had a 7.3L F-350 power stroker diesel and I was getting oil in my radiator it was because i had an injector sleeve cracked.
