Default Parking brake smoking

Just bought a 2005 F-350 FX4 about a month ago, the rear brake smokes sometimes, sometimes not. Just drove 6 hours home w/o a problem. stopped for a 6 pack and headed home. The brakes were smoking for the second time in 2 days when I got home. The smoke appears to be coming from the e-brake shoes, but I never used the e-brake. It is in the full up position. It also just passed inspection from the dealer who is reputable. Any clues?

Default E-Brakes

I have an 03 250. I think the metal ford uses stinks. Mine are only 6 years old. The plate rusted so bad the clips fell out and my brakes smoked and destoyed every thing. In you case it is clear that the adjuter may be out of position or that sid is jut too tite. What happens when the pin clips come loos from the backing plate the shoe will walk side to side. There will be a lip on the drum, they will be tite and it will smoke. If it walks inside the drum, it is happy there ware it will float. Sorry but you will have to take apart and you should. You may be lucky, they may have changed the design.. while you in ther I would painthe plate with POR15. The plate lists for $400 each, Ford will only sell them loaded. Go figure .....brake shoes are only 40 bucks. Good luck. MJDIO
