Default Question F250 Power stroke 6L

I just bought a 2004 F250 Diesel 6L. I would like to know if it's true that you have to raise the cab to change the injectors. How many hours to do the job?

What is there to check on a 6L (90000KM)

It is not true.

IMO it is 4-5 hours for both sides at a competent dealership (good techs should easily beat that time). $150 an hour labor (or around that).

First - post which 2004 you have - the early '04 with the 03 engine or the late 04, with the 04 engine updates?
The easiest way to determine that is to post the location of the ICP sensor.

If you don't know the location of the ICP sensor, then you need to read up!

As far as things to check, we can get to that later after you post which engine you have in your '04.

If I compare with the picture, It's a 03- Early 04 motor.

So, I have to raise the cab to change the injectors or not ?

Good luck, but Its not called the 6.0 OH! OH! for nothing.

Ceck the condition of the EGR cooler and delete as soon as you can afford. When it goes it will take out a head gasket and more. I paid 6K to repair that one. Speaking of witch put in the ARB head studs and the revised head gasket, Last they are notorious for having the high pressure oil pump go bad. If there is a long hesitation for the oil pressure gauge to come up its going bad, The engine will also shut down immediately if oil pressure is low. The gauge is tied to then normal oil pump, which feeds the high pressure pump that fires the injectors. If it is reading low the high pressure pump is leaking internally. Low power at higher RPM is also a sign. Not a cheap fix. All the above can be done cab on too.. The high pressure oil pump cost me $2500 to get fixed. Last be aware some parts like the cross over wire harness are not available any more. so I hope your a good electrical person.

Good luck

BTW all the stuff happen to my 04 with less that 109000 miler on it. I also went through 4 injectors under warranty and a slew of trans servos too. Find a good diesel mechanic that knows the 6.0 well.
