is SHE GONNA BLOW!
Need your help. I have been a Ford owner for several years (have not considered other brands); due to recent issues with Ford warranty repairs I am looking at changing brands.
My current vehicle is 2016 Ford F350 Platinum, DRW Diesel.
I will be replacing it with another DRW Diesel (2020 model). I tow a 40’ 5th wheel camper that’s around 17,000 lbs.
GM and Dodge owners how are your vehicles treating you, reliability, warranty issues, comfort, ride, fuel economy, etc.?
As you can see from below, I have had far more problems than normal. So a manufacture that stands behind their customers (without a knife) is of great importance.
I believe the most recent repair has made the vehicle unsafe. The engine ingested app. 2 gallons of engine coolant. Ford authorized replacement of both heads and turbo, but they did not allow dealership to inspect block, pistons, rings, rods, mains, etc. for distortion or cracks.
I will be towing through the mountains. I’m not going to risk my family’s lives. If this engine BLOWS you could have a run-away vehicle.
I purchased my 2016 in Sep. 2016, since then it has been in for repairs approximately 196 days.
-Engine times 2. (1st time they replaced short block and 1 head, 2nd time both heads and turbo).
-Navigation screen lockup
-seat belt warning system (was working before engine replacement 1st time) dealership said this vehicle did not come with the warning system (the red light and chime when you forget to buckle your seatbelt).
-fan blower noisy.
-Sunroof sticking.
-front driveshaft vibration.
-4 wheel drive not engaging.
-Lacks power (this is a 2016 with 3.73 gears) the 2012 I traded with 3.55 gears far outperformed this vehicle.
-Platinum emblem that came loose & turn signal bulb was repaired with only one trip to the dealer.

In good conscience I wouldn't think of offering advice without actually looking at your vehicle, but it would seem there is some kind of problem at your dealership.
Have you considered trying a different dealership? I agree if that engine quits on a steep mountain road and you loose power assisted steering and hydroboost brakes , you will be making some unusual decisions. It might be worth your while to seek out a different dealership and see what they have to say. Sometimes the extra effort pays off and it is decision time.

Odd that you had soooo many issues with your truck.
I’ve known a few that have had issues with their alike year Cummins/Dodges, and Duramax. In fact, couple years back I was fueling up and a gent pulled up in his Dodge and asked me how I liked my 17/6.7. Thinking he was going to say he loved his, he said it had been horrible and was looking to trade up to a new 6.7.
Me personally, I think the GM chassis is inferior to both Ford and Dodge.
I think a new build 6.7 wouldn’t disappoint, so either Ford or Dodge IMO. I’d never do a sun roof.
My nephew bought as a lease return Duramax 2500 4x4, then it was bought back because issue couldn’t be resolved. .
When I bought my 17, I got the options I needed for a solid tow rig,, nothing more.

Have considered other dealerships. Current opinion is the problem is with Ford not allowing dealership to make complete repairs, bandaid, return for repair, bandaid, return for repair, etc.
In my opinion Ford should have stepped in and resolved the issues. Appears they are more concerned with current warranty cost than long term cost of losing their customers.
I do prefer the Ford vehicles, but if they are not willing to take care of their customers when problems arise, you cannot afford to own a Ford vehicle.
I was planning on replacing this vehicle with another Ford once the seats became comfortable again which the 2020 Platinum we test drove was fine.
After this warranty mess, Ford no longer looks appealing. I need the replacement here by June so need to order now, don't have the time for proper research so am asking other owners for their opinions.
Thank you.
