Default starting on cold mornings

I was wondering how long i should let the truck warm-up before driving after starting on a cold morning? It's been in the 30's the last couple of days here in Pearland, TX when i've started it to go to work. I figure it'll be in the 40's or 50's in the mornings over the next couple of weeks. Glow plugs warm up and the truck starts fine. The tranny temp goes up before the engine coolant temp does. But that's normal. Seat heaters are a life saver for those cold leather seats. I usually let it run for about 5 minutes before driving, even though the coolant guage doesn't seem to budge. The engine is louder when i first drive it but quiets down after a few minutes of driving (by time i get out of the subdivision). The maual says you can just start it and drive right away. But that seems a little harsh to me on cold days, even warm ones. What have you heard about warm-up time in different temperatures and what do you recommend? Thanks in advance. Check out my other post to see if you can help w/ that one as well.
