The Triton 6.8L V10 is a great engine. It has endless torque and is very smooth. The fuel economy probably wont be any better than your 460 (10-12 mpg) but if you are looking at an F-250 then Im guessing that gas milage isnt much of a concern.
My brother has a '99 F-250 with a V10 that has over 120,000 miles on it and he hasnt had any problems with it.

I have a 99 f250 v10 with 4.30 gears. I average 10 miles a gallons. I tow about a 13000 pound trailer and it pulls it like it is not there. I do like diesel but would not trade this truck at all. The ony thing is that the gas milage hurts a bit when towing i average 7-8 miles.
