I don't know but I bought a 2006 used and someone had put red transmission fluid in the tranny and thats a BIG no no. It was a 600 dollar job to change it to Blue fluid (the correct one) and not a minute too early. Dealer and my mechanic said I averted disaster by catching this early. Sorry I can't help with your real question but it is a good one and I wouldn't let it alone.

I have a 2006 Ford 500 Workshop Manual and it says: Axel Assembly-Rear Section Motorcraft 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant XY-80W90-QL. Under specification- WSP-M2C197-A. Also states it holds .7 liters or 1.4 pints.

The Rear drive axle uses 2 types of fluid as stated in repair manual. Axle assembly front section uses (Volvo Transmission oil 116-1641).
