Default Possible solution...

I too had a 2005 Ford Five Hundred that had the gauge cluster freaking out. Dials would drop to zero, lights flickered, cluster reset and had error codes popping up. Did some research and came to this link

Had to do with cold solder joints on some of the main electrical leads on the cluster's circuit board. After getting the cluster out and resoldering the leads the problem went away. Hopefully this is the same issue you are having. It took me a day to uninstall fix and reinstall the cluster so plan on some down time. Dealer would just replace the cluster with another possibly bad cluster so I have read. Best to DIY. Good luck!

Default Same problem but now car won’t start

My mom has a 2005 Ford Five Hundred 40k miles And the back up lights were on when in park or driving. And the dash lights did not come on. They replaced the battery and alternator. And a week later the car won’t start now. It has been connected to the computer 3 times and shows no codes.
