Instrument Panel & Fuse Box has Epilepsy
Don't know any other way to describe this, but Instrument Panel & Fuse Box has Epilepsy!
I got in to my '05 Five Hundred (68000 miles) hit the memory recall #2 button turned the key as usual, but the gauges (lights) started flickering and the Tach and Speed needles pushed downbelow zero and twitched profusely (engine did NOT start). The fuse panel under the steering wheel started clicking away? I turned the key off and withdrew it, but the fuse panel continued to click away. I popped the hood removed the positive side terminal and naturally it all stopped. 30 minutes laterI replaced the terminal and tried to start it and again the panel and fuse box went into some sort of Epileptic seizure?
I had to take steering column apart to get to the release button to get it into neutral and out of the garage (awaiting tow).[:@]
I have not had any warning lights or weirdness prior to this.
Any ideas? (besides new manufacturer)[&o]
Thanks.
Dave

RE: Instrument Panel & Fuse Box has Epilepsy
Well, most people I spoke to said the battery was bad, so I managed to get it to Autozone to have the battery tested and they claimed battery was good? Which made some sense to me since the meter read 14 volts across the terminals.
At this point I am thinking computer issue all the way! I got it over to the dealer and after about 4 hours they called and said bad battery and computer reset $190!

My mom has a 2005 Ford Five Hundred 40k miles And the back up lights were on when in park or driving. And the dash lights did not come on. They replaced the battery and alternator. And a week later the car won’t start now. It makes clicking sounds when you turn the key. It has been connected to the computer 3 times and shows no codes.
