Default 16 zetec Misfire

Hi all,

I have a 2002 1600 Zetec Focus which recently developed a misfire. No warning, just happened. Had to be towed back into town. Got new plugs and checked plug cables, not fixed. The engine management light is on but I thought this might happen if a there was a misfire for any reason including plugs. Basically, I think I'm going to have fork out the money to have the car plugged in for a diagnostic check (Not cheap) or does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Kev

I'm sure you've fixed this particular problem already, but just thought I'd mention that you can buy your own little computer for the car to keep at home. Saves you money from having to take it to the shop all the time. I know here in Canada we can pick them up for under $150 at Canadian Tire, depending on what brand/type you get. I picked one up for my Saturn (it was cheaper since the car was older), and it worked wonders with all the misfiring and EGR problems I had. If I had to spend $65 every time my engine light had come on, I would have been broke!
