2017 Focus TCM top plug
I have a 2017 Focus 2.0 L, and, after installing a new battery, the transmission would only shift into 1st, 3rd and 5th gears. We tried another TCM, but the car doesn't start (no crank, no start). We broke the upper plug for the TCM. I thought that may be the reason for the no start. So, I went to the salvage yard, and got a wiring harness. I didn't use it because it has 36 wires to the plug, and our car's plug only has 16 wires.
I got a plug from a 2012 Focus, and it only has 15 wires on it.
How do I know what year of Focus will have the exact same wires as mine?

Unfortunately, newer vehicles require the vehicle computer be notified the battery has been replaced. A capable scan tool is required to accomplish this.
Things are not as simple as they once were with older year vehicles. If the trans problem was not there before changing the battery, there was no reason for getting involved with the TCM.
Now we have 2 problems wiring and reprogramming.
