My 2002 ZX5 is at just under 75,000 and I'm getting ready to change the thermostat, timing belt, and water pump. Not that it's all going bad or anything but if the timing belt goes out on these Zetec motors your replacing the motor. Mine just recently quit holding water so I'm going to go replace everything to make sure its all good, and at a do it yourself price it'll cost about $120 through Auto Zone

I believe the timing belt replacement interval is either 100k or 120k. It does not hurt to do it earlier and make sure you use a quality belt. Dayco, Goodyear and the sort. And as mentioned before, chanage the water pump because it's only a few dollars more. Always remember to change the fuel filter as well every 30k to 50k. Fuel filters are the most overlooke and important maintenance items.
