How to get rid of "Tire Reset" message
New Freestar owner - I pushed the little **** to change from odometer to trip odometer.
Then pushed it again, expecting it to go back to odometer. But it displayed the word "Tire" for a few seconds, then the word "Reset", and these two words kept alternating until I pushed the **** again and it went to odometer.
I googled and found a post saying to hold down the **** while "Tire" or "Reset" is displayed, but it does nothing and finally just returns to odometer.
What does this mean, and how do I get rid of it? No tires are low, or any other problem.

Unrelated newbie question: Any way to make the radio go off when I turn the car off (like normal) instead of staying on until I open the door?

Reset without message center:
To reset, turn the ignition to the ON
position, depress and Trip/odometer
button (located in the instrument
cluster) until “TIRE RESET” or
“CHECK TIRE AND RESET” is
displayed in the odometer display window. Once “TIRE RESET” or
“CHECK TIRE AND RESET” is displayed, PRESS and HOLD the button for
three seconds. The low tire warning indicator light will flash three times
as the low tire warning system begins to initialize.

Yes, those are the instructions I found somewhere, and did already.
So, is it normal that the **** does not toggle directly between odometer and trip odometer, but always includes a step for resetting the tires?
Also, why does my post display "****" for the word ****?

I have a Limited, so I have the Message Center. Somebody with the one like yours would be able to pipe in. It sounds like the normal function toggles between Odometer, Trip Odometer and Tire Reset. Then if your Tire Monitor light was "ON", you would just toggle to the reset and hold it to reset the TPS light and system.
