A/C not staying cold at idle

A/C not staying cold at idle
2007 Freestyle, when the car is running on the highway or actually moving, the A/C is cold. When I stop, or sit at a light at idle the A/C feels like it is just blowing outside air in, like there is no A/C at all. Any ideas what could be the problem? I have checked the charge, and the gauge reads that there is sufficient coolant.

Being in this vocation for a few moons we learn to double check someone else's work and no reflection on jch, but what were your readings and at what ambient temp were they checked?
Bluewind offered a couple good suggestions, but that is assuming the readings were correct. After you get burned a few times we learn to check from scatch and it never hurts to double check.

Sorry, refrigerant. The fan (electric) does kick on, and everything I have read says there is no filter in the system. If there is one, please suggest where it is and I will check. As far as readings, the gauge has a red, yellow, and green range, and it was in the green range. The compressor was cycling, and the ambient temp was about between 80 and 85.

Something you can check.
While parked , A/C on hi, max cold setting, raise the RPM up to about 1500 and see what the system does then. If it manages to blow cold air as when you are riding down the road , It could be a little low on refrigerant.
Those gauge readings are critical and unless your gauges give pressure readings the color is probably for general checking. If the cycling gets too fast it is low on refrigerant charge.

If you should decide to add the refrigerant yourself, please read all the cautions to be observed when doing that. Safety goggles are a must, and purging the lines when adding refrigerant is another step so moisture doesn't get introduced into the system.
If moisture does get introduced, you could open the door for a whole new set of problems. As the expression goes, "Do your homework !"
